How Almost Dying Created a Legendary Marketing Video #Shorts
In the world of marketing, creativity often springs from unexpected places. One of the most remarkable examples is the creation of a legendary marketing video that was born out of a near-death experience. This story is not just about a clever promotion; it’s a testament to the human spirit, resilience, and the power of storytelling in marketing.
The Incident
It all began when a video creator, known for his adventurous spirit, set out to shoot a travel vlog. While hiking a treacherous mountain trail, he encountered an unexpected storm that turned a simple outing into a harrowing ordeal. Battling against strong winds and torrential rain, he found himself in a life-threatening situation. It was during this moment of vulnerability that the spark of creativity ignited.
Capturing the Moment
After narrowly escaping disaster, the creator decided to document the experience in a way that blended authenticity with compelling storytelling. Instead of merely recounting the harrowing journey, he crafted a narrative that illustrated the beauty of living on the edge and embracing life fully.
Equipped with only his phone and a few editing tools, he transformed raw footage into a gripping short film. The narrative intertwined his struggles with stunning visuals of nature, punctuated by moments of introspection where he reflected on what it means to truly live.
The Marketing Strategy
Recognizing the video’s potential, he devised a plan to leverage this emotional journey into a marketing campaign for an outdoor gear brand. By showcasing his near-death experience, he connected with viewers on a deep, emotional level. The message was clear: life is unpredictable, and having reliable gear could make all the difference.
The video was titled “Almost Dying,” and the concept resonated widely. It attracted attention not only for its breathtaking visuals but also for the raw honesty of the creator’s experiences. The combination of adventure, risk, and the importance of being prepared struck a chord with outdoor enthusiasts and casual viewers alike.
Viral Success
What happened next was beyond anyone’s expectations. The video went viral, racking up millions of views in just a few days. It became a #shorts sensation, especially on platforms like TikTok and Instagram. Viewers shared it not just for its entertainment value but for its underlying message, sparking conversations about safety, adventure, and the essence of life.
The Aftermath
The success of the video led to a surge in brand engagement for the outdoor gear company. Sales soared as the audience felt a genuine connection to the story. The creator was flooded with sponsorship offers, collaborations, and opportunities he had never imagined before.
This experience reinforced a valuable lesson in marketing: authenticity resonates. A near-death experience, paired with a powerful narrative, can lead to timeless content that resonates with audiences, fostering brand loyalty and engagement.
Lessons Learned
The story of this legendary marketing video serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most impactful content comes from our most challenging experiences. Embracing vulnerability and sharing authentic stories can create genuine connections with audiences. In the unpredictable realm of marketing, taking risks — much like adventurers in the great outdoors — can lead to extraordinary results.
In the end, the nearly tragic hike didn’t just become a cautionary tale; it transformed into a symbol of resilience, creativity, and the undeniable power of storytelling in the marketing landscape.
Hope they paid him! Hope they paid him!
Not bad for a vanilla ice cream cone huh? Shoop shoop shoop 😂😂😂😂

"just by almost DYING" is crazy
Apple actually has a use now. Great
I didn't get close to dying like this but almost drowned in Byron Bay from body surfing. I got slammed into the bottom from a huge wave I didn't see coming and whilst swallowing a ton of water I struggled to remember to follow the bubbles up. I got caught in the rip and pulled out about 50 metres. This was in the 90s tho so I had to figure it out myself.
They also did a commercial about a guy who fell from his bike , became unconscious, and the Apple Watch notified emergency services because it detected sudden loss of movement.
The only instance of an apple product being useful .
Okay. Since it doesn't seem addressed if you get caught in a rip tide and its pulling you out do not swim against it towards shore. It goes against ever instinct you have to start swimming sideways until you are out of the pull. Then try to let the waves help you back to shore or hope like hello kitty the life guard saw it happen
I was lucky. I had just finished life guard training and this was drilled into us being one of the biggest dangers of ocean swimming. That and crowded beaches.
Drowning isnt like the splashing and yelling you see on tv. Its slipping under the water silently and not coming back up. I was lucky i remembered and that my friend had seen it happening and grabbed rescue torpedo. I dont know what they call them now. But the red handled floats. The ones you push in front of you because drowning people clutch onto you and pull you down if you don't.
I guess I would die because I never opt for the cellular versions on watches 😂
Wow… Apple made something truly useful.
"Stay on the phone" erm
I hope they paid him big
So, instead of telling people they shouldn't try to swim distances against currents, floating conserves energy, you took this chance to help spreads apples comercial a little bit further? Because apple is so good, in general, right?
i don't like it when you say "back in "2023" "
I love it but, people dying trying to pay their bills, the Apple phone doesn't help with that
I just wanted to see what Bri5155 wrote…
I have an apple watch, and I had no idea there was an SOS feature!
That’s awesome! 😊😊😊
Why do I pay premium when there are these hidden adds?
F.. off YouTube
This one act of Apple has totally redeemed them at least in my eyes, respect!
he prolly got filthy rich off of that too
give and get huh…
Reminds me of the poor woman who got burritos alive by her husband. He took away her phone but not her apple watch because he didn't register it as a way to call the police
Useful feature
My cheap smartwatch from Temu can also do that.
Bro you just lie on your back floting and you paddle your feet .. Long as there isn't a storm off the coast, the Open water isn't like the crashing waves at the beach. But you know.. surfboardguy probably was using storm waves.
Mu IPhone called my emergency contacts and sent my location and and a few seconds of live audio when I crashed my bike.
rare apple W
he didn't make the video. he was drowning. there was no camera operator. except for the audio, it was a reenactment.
First thing that came to my mind was the movie 127 hours
This is stupid
Hopefully that payout was enough to cover the helicopter bill.
My Motorola watch has an SoS button too❤❤
I still like the review for the eye liner that lady left after being in a car crash and going through hell – while her eyeliner never smeared and looked perfect.
Technology saved another should be Darwin award winner.
"I'm going to paddle board way out into the ocean and ride the current…. oh crap I forgot I can't swim!" Genius.
It won't work anymore, since all the 3G networks have been turned off. 3G had much greater range the 4G.
Its ironic the value of the lives that wear the watch vs the lives that make the watch.
Note that this is the Apple Watch ULTRA. It’s the largest, most expensive and rugged one. Aimed towards people who do stuff like that, hiking and whatever. It has satellite capabilities so even when you don’t have cell service, you can get help.
Rare W for apple.
In Australia, the first thing they do when they rescue someone like that is hand 'em a beer and say "Top effort that!".
