When you walk down the aisles of a department store or browse through an online retailer, you are bombarded with an array of enticing fragrances marketed with promises of luxury, romance, and confidence. However, what many consumers are not aware of is the deceptive tactics that some fragrance companies use to sell their products.
One of the most common deceptive practices in fragrance marketing is the use of synthetic ingredients that mimic the scent of natural substances. These synthetic fragrances are often cheaper to produce and can be used in larger quantities, giving the illusion of a higher quality product. In reality, these synthetic fragrances can be harmful to both the environment and your health, as they may contain phthalates, a group of chemicals that have been linked to hormone disruptions and other adverse health effects.
Another common tactic used in fragrance marketing is the use of misleading claims and imagery. Many companies market their fragrances with images of exotic locales, beautiful models, and luxurious settings, suggesting that using their product will transport you to a world of luxury and sophistication. In reality, these images are often heavily photoshopped and do not accurately represent the fragrance or its effects.
Furthermore, many fragrance companies engage in greenwashing, a practice in which they make false or misleading claims about the environmental benefits of their products. While some companies may advertise their fragrances as eco-friendly or sustainable, the reality is that many fragrances contain synthetic chemicals and are packaged in non-recyclable materials, contributing to pollution and environmental degradation.
So, how can consumers protect themselves from deceptive fragrance marketing? One way is to educate yourself on the ingredients used in fragrances and to look for products that are made with natural, organic ingredients. Additionally, do your own research on the company’s marketing practices and look for reviews from reputable sources.
It is crucial for consumers to be aware of deceptive fragrance marketing and to demand transparency and honesty from companies selling fragrances. By exposing these deceptive practices and supporting ethical and sustainable fragrance brands, we can create a more informed and responsible consumer culture. Remember, the scent of a fragrance may be enticing, but the truth behind its marketing may be anything but fragrant.
I love you
your YouTube channel should get an information and educational status. so that when I came for an interview for a job at a niche perfume store, I would say: "I watch all of Emma's videos," and after these words, the employer would hire me right away. So yeah, I need a dyplom like "educated by Perfumerizm"😅❤
💯
My lady, this was great! I definitely appreciate all of the insight. I don’t feel as crazy as I thought. Thank you 🙏🏾
If you really want them to stop, you have to expose them individually, not in a vague video like this just my opinion.
:::::: Tom Ford wants to know your location ::::
This is incredible information that more people need to know. I’ve suspected so much fuckery especially when I would smell “elixirs” and literally smell nothing or worse than “base” level fragrances. Are there levels of ingredients/concentrations that you’d recommend to aim for? Like a sweet spot of quality & longevity?
Thank you for this!! I hope more people see & watch your vid 🙏
Oh goodness me! Here we go with the Fragrance pyramid! What’s next a food pyramid?! Lol! Being facetious here, lol!
This is a statement more than a question regarding reapplying a fragrance. Regardless of the concentration, any fragrance above 50 dollars that doesn't last more than 4 hours IMO doesn't warrant the money spent on it. This is i disagree with Niche or Private line designers costing over 200 dollars that smell great but last only under 4 hours.
This is such a great video! So informative and eye-opening 🙂 I particularly loved the part about nose blindness, I had no idea how that works, biologically speaking. It all makes sense now, and I immediately thought about a time when I met a friend, we decided to meet in the lobby of our office building and I smelled her scent before I could see her (she must have still been in the elevator), then she came and hugged me and I almost chocked, she was wearing Erba Pura which I hate. I told her she smells so potent, and she said "Really? I can't smell it anymore, I love it but I keep spraying it and nothing". I assured her half the town can smell her 🙂 Thank you so much for your educational videos, keep doing what you are doing!
Excellent video! thanks

Hi. I am new to your channel. Love it love it love it. Thank you so much for sharing to us some of your opinions and knowledge. It helps us also to understand a little bit more about the vast field of perfumery and fragrance. Thank you so much
Wow this was the most interesting video on perfumes I've watched in a long time! Keep up the amazing information for us here trying to figure out a pretty confusing industry ! I'd love to see a video on "cost" like what goes into a scent and the price of that, even expensive ingredients, vs how much they charge for the product
I've learned so much from this video. Awesome
Brilliant video and worth a rewatch.
